Olympic level learning is hoping to fuel the flames of equestrians at a unique event in Calgary, Alberta. The Equestrian Symposium held by the Canadian Eventing Development Foundation (CEDF) will take place August 27-30, 2026, offering equestrians the opportunity to learn from Olympians and international-level riders both on and off horseback. Giving equestrians, especially youth, access to international-level instruction is key to their future growth and development in the sport. 

Featuring internationally-renowned FEI five-star judge and multi-time Olympian Peter Gray, Canadian Olympian Sandra Donnelly, and former grand prix show jumper Frank Selinger, the Equestrian Symposium will cover all three phases of the Olympic sport of eventing: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. The Symposium will be held at Rocky Mountain Show Jumping just outside of Calgary, Alberta.

Let Canadian Olympic eventer Sandra Donnelly show you the ropes on steeplechase or take show jumping lessons from former grand prix rider Frank Selinger. You can also watch Alberta’s top farriers as they practice ahead of the World Championship Blacksmiths competition to be held September 8-13, 2026, at Spruce Meadows. 

The Symposium also features an Educational Evening Program, sponsored by Dynamic Funds, showcasing horse inspections, harmony in dressage, and progressive cross-country lines, followed by a community social and barbeque. Combined tests of dressage and show jumping will also be held. Horse enthusiasts are welcome to attend as spectators and enjoy all the educational opportunities for a modest admission fee. 

CEDF’s Equestrian Symposium aims to bring affordable and accessible opportunities to athletes at all levels. The high-level coaching and education components are designed to build skills and confidence in young riders while also helping athletes stay active for life. With a strong focus on community, the Symposium also aims to strengthen connections through volunteer opportunities and an engaging, welcoming environment.
