The Tidball family — whose visionary stewardship has guided the world-class venue since 1973 — is passing ownership to the Mathesons, another local family deeply rooted in Langley’s business and sporting communities.

Equestrian Canada 

Kenneth Peterson, a long-time supporter of Canadian show jumping and the former chairman of the Canadian Equestrian Team, passed away in Ottawa in February, following a long illness. He was 87. 

Born in the United Kingdom in 1938, Peterson came to Canada in 1967 and worked as a surgeon at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto beginning in 1972.  

The Fredericton Therapeutic Riding Association ran an eight-week summer program with Under One Sky Friendship Centre, introducing youth to horses. One family shared this story after completing the program.

On November 12, 2025, in provincial court in Vernon, BC, Sandra Nickolls entered a guilty plea to causing animals to be in distress, contrary to section 24(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA).
