Dayton Gorsline, who has held the role of jumping youth development program advisor for Equestrian Canada since 2019, has been permanently suspended by the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), part of the Canadian Safe Sport Program. The sanction follows allegations of “boundary transgressions, grooming, physical maltreatment, and sexual maltreatment.”

Based in Okotoks, Alberta, Gorsline operates Trademark Stables alongside his wife, Lisa Carlsen.

His involvement with youth jumping predates his formal advisory role; he contributed as a member of the selection committee and served as chef d’equipe at the FEI North American Youth Championships.

According to Equestrian Canada High Performance Director James Hood, the organization was notified of the decision by OSIC on June 11, 2025, as reported in The Chronicle of the Horse on June 19, 2025:

“We immediately suspended him from all Equestrian Canada activities and terminated his contract position,” Hood wrote in an email to the Chronicle. “To ensure the immediate enforcement of the decision we immediately notified key partners — including the [Fédération Equestre Internationale], Provincial and Territorial organizations, and the United States Equestrian Federation — as well as our internal staff, Jumping Committee and High Performance Advisory Groups.

“It is important to note that Mr. Gorsline has the right to appeal the decision and thus all parties are limited in what they can say.”

Hood further clarified that Gorsline remained in his position throughout the duration of the investigation.

The OSIC operates under the Canadian Safe Sport Program, which launched on April 1 to provide independent oversight in cases of alleged maltreatment within Canadian sport.
