Veteran grand prix rider Belinda Trussell enjoyed a career highlight at the CDI Ottawa Dressage Festival (ODF), held May 19-22 at Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa, ON.

Ron D. Southern, founder and Co-Chairman of Calgary’s world-renowned Spruce Meadows equestrian facility, and iconic Alberta entrepreneur and businessman, passed away January 21, 2016. He was 85. In 1971, Ron Southern and his wife Margaret purchased a feedlot south of Calgary from Copithorne Ranch, with the vision of establishing a world-class equestrian facility. In the spring of 1975 they brought their vision to life with the opening of Spruce Meadows. The show jumping facility quickly became not only Canada’s premier riding venue, but was also recognized internationally.

In a series of competitions that could hardly have been choreographed to better effect, Canada claimed the team title while America’s McLain Ward clinched individual gold in Show Jumping at the TORONTO 2015 Pan-American Games at the OLG Caledon Equestrian Park, Ontario, Canada.

America’s Steffen Peters and Laura Graves added individual gold and silver on July 14th to the team title secured on July 12th at the TORONTO 2015 Pan-American Games at the OLG Caledon Equestrian Park, Ontario, Canada. The host nation’s Chris von Martels scooped individual bronze.

Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON, won the individual silver medal and the Canadian Eventing Team took the bronze in eventing competition held Sunday, July 19, at the TORONTO 2015 Pan American Games at the OLG Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park in Caledon, ON.

Following a hard fought battle with the United States, the Canadian Dressage Team claimed the silver medal on Sunday, July 12, at the TORONTO 2015 Pan American Games. Dressage competition took place on July 11, 12, and 14 at the OLG Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park in Caledon, ON.

Canada’s Lauren Barwick has earned Canada’s first medal at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, FRA. Barwick finished on the podium in the bronze medal position following her Individual Championship Test during the fourth day of para-dressage competition on Thursday, August 28.
