Jonathon Millar of Millar Brooke Farm suffered a serious non-riding accident on March 12, 2023 in which he hit his head. A post on the Millar Brooke South Facebook page on March 13 reported: “He was quickly transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL, where he had successful brain surgery to stop a bleed and relieve swelling.

“Jonathon is one of the kindest and most caring people in our industry. He is well-loved, he is strong, and he is a fighter on his road to recovery.”

An update on March 20 reported: “He remains under sedation in the ICU at St Mary’s Hospital being cared for by the trauma team who is helping him around the clock on his way to recovery. These are just the first steps on a long road but Jonathon is a determined fighter.

Jonathon Millar is based at Millar Brooke Farm in Perth, Ontario, and at Millar Brooke South, the US-based operational farm of Millar Brooks Farm. The accident occurred while Jonathon was reportedly driving a utility vehicle at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.

“The outpouring of support from the equestrian community near and far is comforting and humbling. Thank you to everyone for reaching out and keeping Jonathon and his wife Kelly in your thoughts and prayers. A huge thank you to Cayden Hill and all of the staff at Milllar Brooke Farm South for the incredible work at seamlessly keeping operations at the farm and show moving forward.”

A GoFundMe page has been established to raise funds to help offset the considerable expenses for the care required for Jonathon’s recovery. Members of the equestrian community and beyond are urged to give what they can at GoFundMe campaign.
