Tim Stockdale, the British Jumping athlete who was a member of Team GBR at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, has passed away after a short battle against cancer. He was 54. He was a passionate supporter of all aspects of the Jumping discipline, both as an athlete and as a trainer, and was proud to have jumped on British teams in the FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2002 in Jerez (ESP), the FEI European Championships 2009 on home soil in Windsor (GBR), and more than 50 FEI Nations Cup™ competitions.

Wrapping up the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 (WEG) with this fourth report, it’s been almost two weeks of ups and downs and bumps in the road, starting with Hurricane Florence bearing down on the Tryon International Equestrian Center as the 13-day event began on September 11.

At Tryon 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games - Welcome to our third report on the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 (WEG) currently underway in Mill Spring, North Carolina. The 13-day event, which began on September 11, has seen more than its share of challenges due to Hurricane Florence, and on September 15, two horses pulled up lame during the Mars-sponsored cross-country phase of the three-day event competition and received immediate veterinary treatment.

The extreme weather has played havoc with the 13-day event at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) since it got underway on September 11.

Horses, Hurricanes, and World-Class Competition - As organizers and competitors stared down the threat of Hurricane Florence, the prestigious FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 (WEG) got underway on September 11. The WEG is held every four years in the middle of the Olympic cycle and is the go-to event on the global equestrian sporting calendar. This year, it is being hosted at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in Mill Spring, North Carolina, and the schedule includes the disciplines of jumping, dressage, para-equestrian dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting, and reining. Also featured are equestrian-focused demonstrations, exhibitions, and the inaugural annual World Equine Expo™ all showcased in the 13-day event ending September 23.

The FEI World Equestrian Games™, held every four years in the middle of the Olympic cycle, is one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar, combining eight equestrian World Championship caliber events in a pre-determined location. The FEI disciplines – Jumping, Dressage and Para-Equestrian Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and Reining – are all included on the competition schedule, while equestrian-focused demonstrations and exhibitions will also be hosted throughout the duration of the event. The 2018 edition of the FEI World Equestrian Games™ will be held in Mill Spring, NC, over 13 days from September 11-23rd, 2018 at Tryon International Equestrian Center.

On December 21, 2017, Woodbine Entertainment announced a donation of $10,000 USD to the California Retirement Management Account (CARMA) to assist those impacted by the tragic Lilac Fire at San Luis Rey Downs Training Center in Bonsall, California.
