April Dawn Ray, age 42, of Victoria, British Columbia passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The family would like to thank her many friends for just that, being April’s friend. So many people loved and supported April.
April is survived by her momma Maxine, sister Amber (Michael) and brother Jordan (Andrea) and predeceased by her father Danny (her biggest hero). April was, without a doubt, the cool auntie to her beloved nieces and nephews Dylan, Liam, Kara, Nathan, Henrik, and Elsa. She loved spending time with those kids over the decades and also loved teaching riding to any youngster who was interested in learning.

With a passion for horses that saw April live stretches in England working and training at Stoner School, and Calgary working and training at Spruce Meadows, along with stops in California and Germany, April fit a lot into her short time here with us.
Most recently, April had found community and a love for her new home of Salt Spring Island. Taking a position at the Harvest Kitchen, she often spoke of the connections made as well as the support the organization gave to the community. Also on Salt Spring, April had joined the Dragon Boat team (Spirit Point Dragons) determined to make her way from the back of the boat all the way to the front, setting the pace for the rest of the 20 paddlers team in one short season, and making some amazing memories and friends.

April had a passion for people and animals, was extremely loyal, hardworking, and joyful. She spent her time writing, being active with her dogs and her horse, laughing, and exploring the outdoors. Her time with friends, family, enjoying good food and music, were happy times for her.
April gave until she didn’t have any more to give and was the best part of many of our lives. Although we wish for nothing more than more time with April, we are grateful for the time we had and have much to be thankful for.
A celebration of life for April was held on April 12th with more than 300 friends and family in attendance.
