With only nine weeks to prepare, Miranda and Ryan Kent, owners of RMK Trailer Sales, recognized a need for an equine educational exposition and decided to make it happen. Although they had no experience running an event of this kind, they brought together horse-related vendors, clinicians, and associations, sold tickets, and opened the doors to the first Ontario Equine Expo at the Markham Fairgrounds in March 2025. By focusing on educational clinics that appealed to a wide range of equestrian enthusiasts, they created a learning environment for guests while discovering what worked and what did not.

Canada’s Farmland Values Continued to Climb in 2025

The average value of Canadian farmland continued its steady climb in 2025, increasing by 9.3 percent, according to the latest FCC Farmland Values Report. The Prairie provinces drove much of the year’s average increase, while the Maritimes followed with continued growth. In contrast, Ontario and Quebec’s increase in average values eased from the stronger gains recorded in previous years.

In Memoriam: Kenneth Peterson (1938-2006)

Equestrian Canada

Kenneth Peterson, a long-time supporter of Canadian show jumping and the former chairman of the Canadian Equestrian Team, passed away in Ottawa in February, following a long illness. He was 87.

Born in the United Kingdom in 1938, Peterson came to Canada in 1967 and worked as a surgeon at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto beginning in 1972.
