Lessons in Gender Equality from Equestrian’s Top Competitors and Leaders

Dressage, the oldest equestrian discipline, has been part of the Olympic program since 1912 and horseback riding is the only Olympic sport where male and female competitors compete on a level playing field. The FEI World Cup Dressage Final in Omaha, Nebraska was full of examples of seamless promotion of gender equality – from equal pay, giving full and true consideration to women’s ideas, to searching out and mentoring rising talent of both genders. Conversations with some of the top female leaders in this sport provided a guide for other sports to bridge the gap between and eradicate gender inequality.
