Learning from lesson horses - Do you remember your first lesson horse? Was it a wizened old schoolmaster, retired from his horse show days, who patiently taught you how to post the trot and pick a hoof?

CADORA Inc. is thrilled to announce that it will once again be hosting two Stephen Clarke clinics this year. The first will be held on September 23-24, at Esther Mortimer and Harper MacKenzie’s M2 Dressage Centre in Millgrove, Ontario; the second on September 30–October 1, at Fairlawn Equestrian Centre in Brentwood Bay, BC, owned and operated by Nicky, Sam, and Vanessa Reid and John Hannam.

Canadian Horse Journal and its talented editorial team receives top honours for editorial excellence each year during the American Horse Publications (AHP) Equine Media Awards. AHP Equine Media Awards are the premier awards within the equine media industry, and AHP has been honouring excellence in equine media since 1975.

Adaptive tack is used in therapeutic riding to compensate for the rider’s physical or cognitive limitations, thereby enabling safe riding accomplishment. There is a wide range of adaptive tack and here is an introduction to the most commonly used items in a Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) accredited program. None of the adaptive tack described here affects the well-being of the horse.

The Canadian Quarter Horse Association’s (CQHA) Breeders Committee launched a program in 2022 to reward Canadian-bred Quarter Horses excelling in their disciplines at events nationwide sanctioned by American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and/or AQHA/CQHA Affiliate partners.

Horseplay Program - We want to encourage you to learn, practice good horsemanship, and play! We have launched our Horse Play Program that allows members to record their horse activity whether they are watching a clinic, cleaning a stall, or taking their horse on a trail. This is a FREE all-inclusive program for Horse Council BC (HCBC) members ages 13 and up, and enters members into draws to win monthly, quarterly, and yearly prizes. Prizes include gift cards from BC-based equestrian businesses!

The Can-Am Equine All Breeds Expo regrettably announces the postponement of both shows in Ancaster, ON and Chilliwack, BC to spring of 2023.
