27th ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF HORSES PHOTO CONTEST

We are delighted to present the Winners, Runners-Up and Honourable Mentions in our 27th Annual Celebration of Horses Photo Contest. Our 2018 contest welcomed the highest number of entries ever, and the quality just keeps getting better every year. Our sincere thanks go to the hundreds of horse lovers who shared their special moments and stories of beloved equines and working partners.

The continued success of this contest would not be possible without the generous support of our wonderful sponsors, to whom we are extremely grateful. The lucky winner in each category will receive a $250 gift certificate from NOBLE OUTFITTERS. Two runners-up in each category will receive a POG (Portable Ozone Generator) from STRATHCONA VENTURES.

WINNER - The Happiness of Horses
Diane Gelinas captured the wonderful action of horses at liberty after a snowstorm. The horses belong to Les Écuries West-Class, a farm in Saint-Amable, Quebec, “Where the happiness of the horses is the joy of the riders.”
1st RUNNER-UP - Smoke on the Water
“After a long winter in the Chilcotin, Smokey likes to enjoy the warm spring air with a little dip in the Chilko River,” says photographer Josh Reimer. Smokey is a 30-year-old Quarter Horse/Draft-cross gelding.
2nd RUNNER-UP - Bejewelled
“A dew-full morning turned into a gem through a different lens,” explains photographer Trish Kauffeldt. “Penny and Locksley are the sweetest of horses and can often be found just hanging out.”
HONOURABLE MENTION - Cantering on a Fall Day
“While taking pictures of the horses and changing leaves, these two horses cantered by,” explains photographer Susan Dunstan. “Whistler (Millennium Spirit) is a registered buckskin Quarter Horse born in 2000. The palomino mare is Sundance (Good Looking Girl) who is a Quarter Horse born in 1981.”
HONOURABLE MENTION - I Only Love My Bed and Momma
“Roy loves his grass, his stall, and his momma,” says Heather Varlow. “There’s nothing like a good spring roll!”
HONOURABLE MENTION - At Liberty
Photographer Diane Gelinas captured this gorgeous photo of horses of the Les Écuries West-Class farm in Saint-Amable, Quebec, at liberty after a major snowstorm.
