WINNER - Gregory and Muffin, Growing Up
Gregory, who won this category with Biscuit for the past two years, is back with Muffin. Biscuit was recently retired, and Muffin has stepped up to take Greg on their adventures, says Amber Bond of Keremeos, BC. Muffin is a double registered AMHA and AMHR Miniature, three years old and lightly started in the cart. “Muffin is one of the quietest horses we have raised. She really took a liking to Gregory last year and ever since then, they have been inseparable.”
1st RUNNER-UP - When You Can’t Walk, I Will Carry You
“My daughter Marissa was born with Angelman Syndrome. Her prognosis was that she would never walk,” says Shari McIntosh of Fergus, ON. “We started her out at a therapeutic riding facility in Puslinch, ON, at the age of three and a half. Shortly thereafter she began to take some steps with assistance. Fourteen years later she is able to walk with a walker. Riding a horse gives her the same freedom most people enjoy: the ability to walk. She is non-verbal so her joy is shown through smiles and clapping her hands and seen in the photo.” Dinero is a registered Paso Fino who joined the family 15 years ago. “We couldn’t ask for a better horse.”
WINNER - True Alberta Frost
Bear (Wynter Iron Man) is a registered Paint gelding working at Trinity Ranch in Cluny, AB. “He is a picture of true Alberta frost,” says Tammy Corbiell.
WINNER - Wild Mom & Foal
In the public recreational trails of Logan Lake lives an elusive herd of wild horses. Photographer Prescott Patterson captured the lone 2021 foal of a newly formed small band of wild horses noticing the camera as mom grazes.
WINNER - My Favourite Place to Be
“One of my favourite things to do is hang out with Rasta in the forest,” says Kellie Gorosh of Black Creek, BC. Rasta is a Quarter Horse/Appy cross and he’s been part of their family for almost 14 years.
WINNER - Checking on Heifers
“Ryan is checking newborn calves on pasture at South River Ranch on the Kiger stallion, Toro,” says Kaitlin Knox of St. Andrews, NS.
WINNER - Jazzy Causing Some Turbulences!
“We aptly named this filly Severe Turbulence,” says Evelyn Sabraw of Acme, AB. “The first time she was out on pasture she raced so hard my heart almost stopped! Severe Turbulence aka Jazz is a Standardbred who will hopefully cause some turbulences at the racetrack one day!”
WINNER - Evening Wrangle at the Ranch

WINNER - Two More Heels
Rusty and Jeremy Heraid bring another calf to the branding fire. Rusty is a 2004 gelding registered as Lenas Blue Bur. “Rusty has packed me through mountains, rivers, pastures, trails and anything I have pointed him at,” says Mandy Panas of Elk Point, AB.
2nd RUNNER-UP - Happiness is Success
“Hank came to me as a wild man who would rather run the other way than be close to a person,” says Katelyn Rudneski of Minnedosa, MB. “Over the years I have gained a true friendship with him. We do a lot of liberty work together. His favourite liberty tricks are the lay down and being sent to find his block to stand on. Hank has worked at overcoming his fears and this makes my heart happy.” Thanks to photographer Paige Orser.
