The Capital City Classic, our 43rd annual Equestrian Canada Gold and Bronze competition, will be held on July 20-21, 2019 at the Saanich Fairgrounds, Victoria, BC. The Capital City Classic is hosted by the members of Victoria Saanich CADORA Society.

Our judges this year are Kari McClain, a recently appointed FEI judge from Olympia, WA, who is also a USEF Senior Dressage and Sport Horse judge; and Kim Vos of Cochrane, Alberta, who recently relocated from the Netherlands and is an Equestrian Canada Medium level judge. We are delighted to welcome back Jane James of Chemainus, BC, who is an Equestrian Canada Senior Dressage steward as well as an FEI Para Equestrian steward.

This year all Equestrian Canada dressage tests from Introductory, Training through Fourth Level will be offered, as well as all FEI tests, including those for Children, Ponies, Junior, Young Riders, Young Horses as well as Para Equestrian and Western. In addition, the Capital City Classic is introducing Rising Stars Equitation classes in three age categories at Training and First levels in the Bronze competition.

The always-popular Musical Freestyles will be held on Saturday late afternoon along with refreshments under the “Prancing with the Stars” tent on the berm. Also on Saturday, a wide variety of specialty items will be showcased in a Silent Auction, from which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity. This year we are donating to the “Broken Promises Rescue” as a tribute to our truly valued and greatly missed late volunteer, Barb McLintock.

Whether you are already a dressage enthusiast or simply want to learn more about dressage, you will be warmly welcomed at the competition. There is no admission charge. If you would like to be more involved, do consider volunteering or becoming a sponsor by emailing  capitalcityclassic@shaw.ca
