More than forty Standardbred horses have perished in a devastating barn fire in Ontario. The blaze started just after 11 pm on January 4, 2016, at Classy Lane Stables Training Centre in Puslinch Township, Ontario, approximately 20 km southeast of Guelph.

David Esworthy passed away on December 19 at the age of 86. A true horseman, Esworthy, who resided in Langley, BC, fed his passion for horses for nearly eight decades. Riding, training, judging – he did it all and left his mark on nearly every facet of the equestrian world

Doug Leatherdale passed away peacefully on his birthday, December 6, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. He had just turned 79.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Neil Ishoy, who passed away on November 4, 2015 at the age of 56. Ishoy, born in Weston, ON, was a talented member of the Canadian Equestrian Team, having ridden at the elite level in both eventing and dressage. Beginning his career in eventing, Ishoy represented the Canadian Eventing Team at the 1980 Alternate Olympics in France, as well as the 1982 World Championships in Germany.

Canadian Paralympian Lauren Barwick of Langley, BC was inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame during the 22nd annual Hall of Fame Induction, held October 30, 2015 at the Fairmount Royal York Hotel in Toronto, ON.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of long-time equestrian, coach, volunteer, and retired FEI dressage judge, Susan Rothgeb, who passed away on September 29, 2015 at the age of 78.

After four years of retirement from show jumping, the striking bay Holsteiner gelding, In Style (Acord II x Lord) was humanely euthanized on September 27 at the age of 20. Our heartfelt condolences to Sue and Ariel Grange and everyone at Lothlorien Farm on the passing of their legendary show jumper.
