March 26, 2020 - Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to invite equine/equestrian business owners to participate in a survey with the goal of understanding the immediate and long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the equine farms, equestrian facilities and related businesses.

March 24, 2020 – Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to provide an update regarding its ongoing advocacy on behalf of equine farms and equestrian facilities facing financial hardship during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as offer resources for support during this unprecedented disruption of normal business operations.

Ontario Equestrian - Since we issued our notice yesterday stating that we are suspending all Ontario Equestrian (OE) and Equestrian Canada (EC) Sanctioned competitions, clinics etc., The Ontario Government has enacted a Declaration of Emergency to Protect the Public.

Equestrian Canada (EC) is closely monitoring news from the World Health Organization, Canadian sport system partners, national and local authorities to help minimize the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we endeavour to provide the best possible level of service while simultaneously protecting the health and well being of our community and employees.

The 146th Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve will be rescheduled from May 2, 2020, to September 5, 2020, and the 146th Longines Kentucky Oaks will be rescheduled from May 1, 2020, to September 4, 2020. These dates are contingent upon final approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, which we expect to receive on Thursday, March 19.

Ontario Equestrian (OE), in conjunction with Equestrian Canada and the other Equestrian Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations across the country, is closely monitoring news from the World Health Organization, national and provincial sport system partners and provincial and local authorities, to help minimize the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Given the most recent information provided by the Province of British Columbia regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Southlands Riding Club will be closed for a two-week period, effective immediately through March 30, 2020 (subject to change). This includes all access to the property - including the Clubhouse - except for staff and designated personnel working with our Rescue Program horses (volunteers will not be permitted onto the site until further notice).
