On September 12, 2019, Equestrian Canada (EC) announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer, Richard Mongeau, who had taken the position on April 1, 2018. The position of Interim CEO will be filled by Yves Hamelin. 

In a press release, EC stated that the role and focus of the Interim CEO over the next year will be to:

  • Effectively implement the Board’s organizational restructuring plan.
  • Create a collaborative and collegial organizational culture dedicated to a shared vision of excellence for EC.
  • Implement and manage a robust and extensive search for the position of CEO. The work of the Interim CEO and EC staff moving forward will address the implementation and achievement of our Strategic Initiatives Plan, while striving to maintain the highest standard of service to our constituents.

Director of Sport, Jon Garner, is also no longer with EC. The departure of former Spruce Meadows’ competitions manager and commentator, who took the EC Director of Sport position in August of 2016, was not formally announced by EC.
