Product Review: H.A. 300 from Purica
Reviewed by April Ray-Peterson
New from Purica, the makers of the well-known Recovery EQ, is H.A. 300, an extra strength hyaluronic acid supplement created to support joint health and function.
Each serving of H.A. 300 contains 300 mg of HA which is a natural lubricating compound for both joint and skin health. It also contains 7000 mg of Vitamin C, which is necessary for the development, maintenance, and healing of connective tissue throughout the entire body. Available in a 30 or 90 day supply, H.A. 300 is vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO.
At the suggestion of Trevor Watkin from Purica, I put a small amount in the palm of my hand and added an equal amount of water. When rubbing the two together I felt a very cool, greasy sensation and could actually feel the hydration that will occur in your horse after taking it orally.
My mare, Fire Foot MR5, is not at all picky when it comes to what she eats and had no problem with a daily scoop of H.A. 300 top-dressing her food. She had no digestive upset or any other side effects from the supplement, and has now been on it for just over three months.
Earlier this year I had been exploring some options to combat the inflammation that has been plaguing her hocks since her OCD surgery in August 2016. I am happy to report that I am no longer researching options to combat the swelling as it seems to have decreased greatly. I have also found an overall improvement in her general health as well as in the quality of her coat and skin.
