A knee injury put an end to the racing career of Metro Meteor who was once one of the fastest Turf Sprinters at Belmont and Saratoga. Metro, who had no chance of a secondary career as a pleasure horse was luckily adopted by Ron and Wendy Krajewski.

The horse community extends deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Diana Louise Dillingham, who passed away unexpectedly on April 23 at the age of 62.

A passionate horsewoman, Dillingham was a fixture on the Canadian equestrian scene. From her early start as a competitor in jumping and eventing, through her transition to a highly respected and sought-after dressage steward, she proved a dedicated advocate for all aspects of the sport.

The New Orleans Police Department Mounted Unit welcomed a filly who will hopefully grow up to be an equine officer. Born on Sunday April 9, the filly has been named Detroit Lady after a donation was made by Detroit-based Strategic Staffing Solutions, which gave them the right to name the foal.

Visitors at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park in early April got a surprise when witnessing a horse attack an alligator. It was caught on film by Krystal Berry who was obviously shaken after the scuffle.
