Australian researchers suggest two techniques in Monty Roberts’ training apply emotional pressure to horses, and their response is based on fear and safety. Aspects of the horse training method made famous by Roberts, who wrote “The Man Who Listens to Horses,” has been questioned by the researchers.

In 1976, John Phillips took over the RCMP’s breeding farm in Pakenham, Ontario to help produce horses for the renowned Musical Ride. The farm produces 15-20 horse a year, only six of which would be selected for the traveling equestrian show impressing audiences around the world.

Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) has learned that several horses have tested positive for EIA in the St. Clements area and a single positive in the Armstrong municipality. This is in addition to the animal tested positive earlier in June in Rockwood which subsequently traveled to Saskatchewan.

The 41st Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Gala Fundraising Dinner on August 9, 2017 promises to be an extra special evening of celebration as ten new members join the best of Canadian Horse Racing. The evening will also celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Horse Racing in Canada, including a nod to 2017 Legends Honoree Modesty, the horse who won the first race on record, July 1, 1767 on the Plains of Abraham.
