Jean Roy, the man known as Victoriaville’s urban cowboy, was recently hit with over $8,000 in fines for a variety of infractions, including having his horse in a public place and failing to clean up after said horse.

Australian researchers suggest two techniques in Monty Roberts’ training apply emotional pressure to horses, and their response is based on fear and safety. Aspects of the horse training method made famous by Roberts, who wrote “The Man Who Listens to Horses,” has been questioned by the researchers.

Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) has learned that several horses have tested positive for EIA in the St. Clements area and a single positive in the Armstrong municipality. This is in addition to the animal tested positive earlier in June in Rockwood which subsequently traveled to Saskatchewan.

The evening will also celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Horse Racing in Canada, including a nod to 2017 Legends Honoree Modesty, the horse who won the first race on record, July 1, 1767 on the Plains of Abraham.
