I for one will never stop believing in these beautiful and magical creatures, but recently scientists have found proof of them roaming the planet around 29,000 years ago. Granted they looked more like a rhinoceros than a horse and the “Elasmotherium sibiricum” lacked any magical abilities. The study published in the American Journal of Applied Sciences revealed they were around 9000 pounds, 15 feet long and six feet tall. The discovery of the fossilized “unicorn” skull was a complete shock to researchers given they were thought of to have gone extinct 350,000 years ago.

In the ultimate test of trust Canadian trainer David Cowley rides his horse 918 feet above the valley floor on the Glacier Skywalk for the first and possibly only time this will ever happen. “What I’m hoping for out of this experience is that people who are learning about it for the first time can realize the potential of a relationship that can be built between horse and rider,” Cowley narrates in the video.

Last year’s race at Aintree claimed the lives of four horses, but the famous Grand National course at Liverpool saw all horses return safely this year…

Two Canadians will line up in a field 40-strong for the 2017 Mongol Derby, featured in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s longest and toughest horse race – across 1000km of Mongolian steppe. Last year the race was jointly won by Heidi Teldstad, a lawyer from Langley.
