EQUINE EDUCATION - EQUANIMITY EDGE EQUINE REHAB
Equine Massage Therapy Course
- contributed
Equine Rehab has the only portable equine massage school in Canada. Here, the school comes to the students. Sidonia McIntyre, a retired registered massage therapist, brings 20 years of soft tissue experience along with a certificate with distinction from the University of Guelph in equine health sciences.
In this six day intensive course, students are taught a blend of both book and hands-on work. The book work consists of safety protocol, massage theory, scar tissue development, damage to soft tissues, common problems, hydrotherapy, business acumen, equine anatomy, and conformation. With 25 hours of hands-on time in the barn, the complete equine massage is taught, along with lower limb swelling reduction, and revolutionary technique in treating colic safely, quickly, and effectively. What sets this course further apart from any other course is the advanced equine massage segment. In this area, equine behaviour is taught with a focus on two areas: how to understand the horse as it communicates, and specific areas of tension that have a direct correlation to pain, refusals, and lameness issues.
