Strathgartney Equestrian Park Now Open

Strathgartney Equestrian Park in Strathgartney, PEI is now open for the season. Please consult the Island Horse Council website before you go out to the park to ride to make sure it isn’t booked. To book the park, contact Liz Spangler at 902-964-2295.

Thanks everyone for a great turnout on Strathgartney Clean Up Day on May 21. The park looks terrific and work done exceeded expectations. Mike Gallagher and the chainsaw gang made nine new cross country jumps, a couple at each level of competition.

Deb Smith and Joey Miller are working on some new portables which will be out at the park soon. Horse Trials PEI (HTPEI) is working on a new level of competition for greenies and newbies, between the old crossrail division and the 2’9” Equine Canada sanctioned Entry division. The old crossrail division is now called Peewee and the new 2’3” division is called Pre-Entry.

Combined with good coaching, we hope this will help island riders move up through the levels in the sport of eventing.

When riding cross country, please remember to bring a coach. Always wear a helmet and safety vest and only jump the fences in the direction they were intended to be jumped. Report any maintenance needed so it can be dealt with in a timely manner. Ride safely and enjoy the park.
