Anita and Meridy are attending Blue Meadows Equestrian Centre’s Triple Crown Clinic over three weekends. Riding in the clinic is Charise Fadyn on her grey Warmblood mare, Mosey. Charise, nervous of her mother’s constant criticism, manages to cope with the clinic with the encouragement of Anita and Meridy. Afterwards, the girls invite Charise on a short ride up Brokeville Hill, but along the way they become separated by a rockslide…

Anita and Meridy were so excited. They were registered in Blue Meadows Equestrian Centre’s “Triple Crown” clinic series. Over three weekends, they would be schooled in conditioning, dressage, and jumping. They had been looking forward to it for ages. The winter had been long and the clinics offered lots of riding fun to prepare for the competition season. Anita loved this time of year, when clinics and schooling shows were starting up and everyone was planning which competitions they wanted to go to. She had already planned on four horse trials, some hunter-jumper shows, and spring camp, but she hadn’t asked Dad yet if she could go. Maybe she’d ask Mom first. She knew entry fees to competitions could cost a lot and then there was the travelling.

Then they learn of an emergency at George and Josey Vanier’s Miniature Horse farm where part of the barn roof has collapsed. George is hurt. While Mom cares for Pete, Dad, Anita, and Matt go to the mini farm where they are joined by friends Sandie, Sean, and their dad Bill.

Dad swung the truck off the road and drove under the welcoming sign of the High Circle J Cow Company. Anita and Matt cheered and Squirt, their lab, jumped up excitedly to push his nose out of the window. Behind them came Jill and her mom Janice Hopkins towing Sugar. They were meeting up with the Carey family — Sandie, Sean, and their parents Denise and Bill — at Bill’s brother’s ranch for a working summer holiday to help with fencing repairs.
