Oliver Townend to Try for Grand Slam at Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing contender, Oliver Townend, has confirmed that he plans to ride Ashdale Cruise Master at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, as well as possibly ODT Master Rose.

45 Horses Seized in Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan SPCA has removed 45 horses from a farm in the southeastern part of the province. Two of the horses were in such bad condition they had to be euthanized.

Ray Texel Races To The Win For A Victory On Salvatore In The $8,000 Sentient Jet 1.45m Jumpers At The 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival

Ray Texel up on his mount Salvatore, owned by Pine Hollow Stables, captured the victory in today’s $8,000 Sentient Jet 1.45m Jumper timed first round.  Second place honors were awarded to Quentin Judge on Kannan’s Girl Z, owned by Double H Farm. Shane Sweetnam and Belle Bleu Z owned by Jerry & Maria Sweetnam & Spy Coast Farm finished up in the third spot.

Canadian Eventing Committee Announces Recipients of 2009 Athlete Development Scholarships

The Canadian Eventing Committee is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009 Canadian Eventing Athlete Development Scholarships. 

The 2009 recipients are Emily Daigneault of Gatineau, QC, Micheline Jordan of Ottawa, ON, and Leahona Rowland of Mississauga, ON.



Jump Canada Announces Bursary Recipients for 2009

Jump Canada is pleased to announce the young athletes who have been named recipients of the Jump Canada Bursary for 2009.

In recognition of the difficulty that young riders’ face as they strive to continue their education while also competing at high levels of equestrian sport, Jump Canada developed the Bursary program for competitors aged 14-21 in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions.  Since its inception in 2002, the Jump Canada Bursary Program has been made possible by a leadership donation of $5,000 from the Samuel Group of Companies.  Jump Canada matches that donation to offer a total of $10,000 in bursary monies.

Friesian Horse Assoc of North America Announces 2009 President’s Trophy Award Winner, Janna Goldman

The Friesian Horse Assoc of N. America honored Janna Goldman, the 2009 FHANA President’s Trophy winner, at the Annual General Meeting, held Feb 27th, 2010, in London, Ontario, Canada.  The northern Californian woman was awarded for the promotion of the Friesian horse by competing and winning numerous large classes at USEF rated shows. Ms. Goldman used multiple horses to achieve the highest score in North America and was selected as the person who best demonstrates the versatility of the Friesian horse. Janna Goldman’s name was added to the perpetual Presidential Trophy which remains on display at the FHANA offices in Lexington, KY.
Selected as winner of FHANA’s most prestigious year end award, Janna Goldman shows her Friesian horses in a multitude of disciplines, including saddleseat, huntseat, dressage, driving, and western.

The line-up for the final of the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup™ Dressage series which will take place at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands from 25-27 March has been revised.  The USA and Canadian Federations have confirmed that, due to health issues for either horses or riders, there will be no representatives from the North American League, so the two available slots will now be taken by reserve riders Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven from Sweden and Poland’s Katarzyna Milczarek who previously applied for any available extra starting places.

Amateur-Owner Hunter action continued today on this beautiful Friday morning at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, home of the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival. Lee Kellogg Sadrian rode her own Sterling to the top honors today in the Amateur-Owner 3’3" Hunters.
