Capital City Classic 2011

By Sheila Skene
This year the Capital City Classic returned to the Saanich Fairgrounds in Victoria, BC.

The Capital City Classic, an Equine Canada Gold and Bronze Competition, took place on July 16 to 17, 2011.

Our judges were Liselotte (Lilo) Fore, an FEI ‘I’ 4 star dressage judge from Santa Rosa, California, and Angela Littlefield-Thorndike, an Equine Canada and USEF Senior dressage judge from Medford, Oregon. Our Steward was Karen Ashby, an FEI Dressage steward from Vancouver, BC.

We had two full days of competition, with tests offered from Training through Fourth level in both the Gold and Bronze competitions, as well as FEI Prix St. Georges and Para Equestrian tests in the Gold competition.

On Saturday afternoon we held our ‘Prancing with the Stars’ freestyle competition which was led by an exciting Pas de Deux demonstration showcasing two elegant black Trakehners.

We wish to thank all of our sponsors including Pacific and Prairie Horse Journal. Without our sponsors we could not offer such a successful competition. This year a portion of the proceeds of the Silent Auction will be donated to the BCSPCA for their horse rescue program.

The Capital City Classic is organised by the members of Victoria- Saanich CADORA. We thank everyone who helped to make this competition a great success!
