SECOND RUNNER-UP

A Hard Goodbye My Truly
By Amanda Cormier, of Kelowna, BC, age 14

The sky is bright and crystal clear,
I know I cannot shed a tear.
As life goes on I shall not fear,
Because then I may shed a tear.
As I climb aboard and go for a ride
I cannot hide how I feel inside.
I created the illusion that I do not care
But not deep down, my heart is broken,
Because you were my prized token.
We did not fight,
And I would kiss you goodnight,
Because you were a beautiful sight.

You followed me around,
And everything I lost you always found.
My heart, my joy, my pride, our stride,
You were always there right by my side.
And when you left we shared a cry
Because you were a hard goodbye.

Goodnight my Truly please sleep tight,
Because I shall not be there to kiss you goodnight.
