Who
Needs Boys When You Have Horses?
By Rebecca Booth, of Kelowna, BC, age 15
On Valentine’s Day, girls giggle and
squeal
Like overjoyed pigs at the scent of a
meal.
They get asked out to dances and parties
and dates,
But for poor girls like me it swings a
different way.
I care for no bad boys or good boys or
nerds,
No punk-goths, no emo’s, or down-right
rude t**ds.
No fun guys, no boring guys, no losers or
jocks,
The only boy on my mind is the horse that
I’ve got!
He’s gorgeous and fit, he gives me rides
everywhere,
And unlike cool guys, doesn’t flash his
underwear.
He dances quite nicely despite two left
feet,
If my horse were a boy, he’d be the one
I’d like to meet.
We are a team, we compete even though he
carries
me around,
He even takes care of me if I fall on the
ground.
I don’t have to worry about him leaving
me,
After all, I am the one who gives him his
feed.
So don’t ask me out you nerds, or you bad
boys or jocks,
Why would I care for you, when it’s a
horse that I’ve got!
